Morris is a city located in Grundy County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 11,928. It is the county seat of Grundy County6.

census of 2000, there are 11,928 people, 4,831 households, and 3,067 families residing in the city. The population density is 669.4/km² (1,734.0/mi²). There are 5,084 housing units at an average density of 285.3/km² (739.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.35% White, 0.34% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 2.45% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. 6.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 4,831 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.8% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.5% are non-families. 31.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 3.03. In the city the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who are 65 years of age or older.
