Parker County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 88,495. Its county seat is Weatherford6. This county is part of the Metroplex.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,357 km² (910 mi²). 2,340 km² (904 mi²) of it is land and 17 km² (7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.72% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 88,495 people, 31,131 households, and 24,313 families residing in the county. The population density is 38/km² (98/mi²). There are 34,084 housing units at an average density of 15/km² (38/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 92.61% White, 1.79% Black or African American, 0.67% Native American, 0.35% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.17% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. 7.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 31,131 households out of which 38.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.60% are married couples living together, 8.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.90% are non-families. 18.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the county, the population is spread out with 27.50% under the age of 18, 7.90% from 18 to 24, 29.80% from 25 to 44, 24.20% from 45 to 64, and 10.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 104.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.10 males.
