Pope Anacletus, or Pope Anencletus, second bishop of Rome, perhaps the same person as Pope Cletus.

Eusebius, Irenaeus, Augustine and Optatus consider Cletus and Anacletus to be the same person, but differ in the order of the first popes: Irenaeus lists Linus, Anacletus, Clement, but Augustine and Optatus list Linus, Clement, Anacletus.

Catalogus Liberianus, Carmen contra Marcionem and Liber Pontificalis state that Anacletus and Cletus are different persons.

According to the catalogues he occupied the papal chair for twelve years (c. 77-88), and died as martyr. His relics are kept in Saint Linus Church, Vatican City. His memorial day is April 26.
