The Swazi (short for swastika) remains an effective symbol into the 21st century. In sub-cultures where a shaved head or tongue-piercing are increasingly looked upon as faintly suburban high-school clichés, a swazi tattoo still inspires horror and revulsion, thus its cultish popularity among disengaged minorities that otherwise evince little apparent interest in history or politics.

The swazi is also an emblem of an aggrieved self-identified white 'minority.'
